Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology with the potential to revolutionize cardiovascular medicine. However, many cardiovascular professionals may find the concepts and applications of AI to be complex and challenging to grasp. This symposium aims to demystify AI for cardiovascular professionals by providing a comprehensive overview of the basic principles and key applications of AI in various areas of cardiovascular medicine.
The symposium will begin with an introduction to the basic concepts of AI and readily available tools, presented by Dr. J. Afilalo from McGill University. This talk will lay the foundation for understanding the fundamental principles behind AI and its potential applications in cardiovascular medicine.
Next, Dr. R. Avram from the Montreal Heart Institute will discuss the application of AI in acute cardiac care. This talk will explore how AI can be leveraged to improve the diagnosis, risk stratification, and management of patients with acute cardiac conditions, such as acute coronary syndromes and heart failure using automated coronary angiography or ECG tools.
Dr. Rashmi Nedadur from Toronto will then present on the use of AI in cardiac surgery. This talk will highlight the potential of AI to enhance surgical planning, optimize patient selection, and improve post-operative outcomes in cardiac surgery.
Finally, Dr. Cedric Manlhiot from Boston will discuss the application of AI in pediatrics and congenital heart disease. This talk will explore how AI can be used to improve the diagnosis and management of complex congenital heart defects and optimize long-term outcomes in this unique patient population.
Throughout the symposium, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic principles of AI and its key applications in various areas of cardiovascular medicine. The symposium will provide a platform for cardiovascular professionals to engage with experts in the field, ask questions, and discuss the potential implications of AI for their clinical practice and research endeavors.
