Dr Caldarone is an Emeritus Professor of Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine.
Prior roles included Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital, Surgeon-in-Chief at the Hospital for Sick Children, Chair of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Toronto, and Director of Congenital Heart Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Iowa. Prior academic leadership roles include Associate Editor of JTCVS, Managing Director of the CHSS Data Center, and membership on the Board of Directors for the STS and AATS.
Research interests have resulted in over 240 publications and >$10M in research funding in various roles with particular emphasis on pulmonary vein stenosis.
Since January 2023, Dr Caldarone has devoted himself to translating academic clinical leadership experience into applicable expertise with one straightforward mission: Helping Congenital Heart Centers to improve their delivery of care through team optimization.
