Dr. Kashif Khan is a dedicated physician-scientist and CIHR Vanier Scholar with a strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular medicine. He completed his PhD at McGill University in 2022, followed by his MD from McGill in 2024. Throughout his career, Dr. Khan has cultivated a deep interest in cardiovascular research, authoring 22 peer-reviewed academic papers that have made significant contributions to the field. Additionally, he has successfully raised over 1.5 million CAD in both non-dilutive and dilutive funding to support his pioneering work.
During his PhD, Dr. Khan focused on investigating the biological mechanisms of atherosclerosis and exploring the use of stem cell therapy for cardiac regeneration after myocardial infarction. His groundbreaking research has provided valuable insights into novel therapeutic strategies and set the foundation for future advancements in cardiovascular care.
Currently, Dr. Khan is focused on leveraging artificial intelligence and medical imaging to streamline the screening process for cardiovascular diseases, particularly carotid atherosclerosis. He is a strong advocate for the safe and effective use of AI in diagnostic medicine, emphasizing its potential to enhance diagnostic accuracy while delivering substantial economic benefits to healthcare systems.
Through his work, Dr. Khan continues to bridge the gap between innovative research and clinical application, striving to transform cardiovascular healthcare and improve patient outcomes.
