Danaka is a supply chain professional and cardiac researcher with a passion for continuous learning. Danaka obtained her Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from UBC in 2010 while competing for Canada’s Bobsled Team. During her time on the national team, she was diagnosed with SVT which led to her interest in cardiology. In 2014 Danaka experienced episodes of atrial flutter and syncope so she was sent to see several cardiologists which further piqued her interest in arrhythmic issues. In 2016 she became a member of the Patient Advisory Council for CANet where she worked with researchers to set up new research studies. Realizing she wanted more education she went to MIT and obtained a Master of Engineering in Systems and Supply Chain in 2018. She now works as a partner at iota consulting, where she consults in supply chain, project management, and data analytics, with a focus on heavy manufacturing and technology. Danaka is also a sessional lecturer at the Dhillon School of Business, teaching supply chain, project management, and business research methods. Her frustrations with outdated textbooks led to writing her own material; her Principles of Supply Chain Management and Operations courseware – which is updated annually – is currently being used in over twenty different universities. Her Introduction to Project Management courseware will be launched in early October. Danaka took her love of supply chain and married it to her interest in cardiology where she is currently completing her PhD in Cardiology at the Cumming School of Medicine. Her research is focused on optimizing the workflow of specific cardiac software to better find, label, and calculate two biological markers of sudden cardiac death, while ensuring the software is more user friendly. She is also a member of the patient working group for VIRTUES digital health platform.
