Dr. Carolina Carvalho is a Cardiologist, Assistant Professor and Clinician Educator in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. She works at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – Rumsey Cardiac Rehab, University Health Network, providing primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation. She has a special interest in women’s cardiovascular health and cardiometabolic diseases.
Dr. Carvalho is originally from Brazil, where she completed her Cardiology training in 2007. In 2014, Dr. Carvalho received her PhD after investigating the effects of obstructive sleep apnea on blood pressure, glucose and lipids. In 2022, Dr. Carvalho completed her Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation training at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – Rumsey Cardiac Rehab. At Rumsey, she has been instrumental in implementing new care models focusing on optimizing cardiovascular risk factors and has developed educational resources for residents, fellows and interprofessional teams interested in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation.
