Dr. Ariane Marelli is a Professor of Medicine at McGill University in Cardiology with an appointment in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health. She is Director of Cardiovascular Research and Academic Affairs in Cardiology. She is the Founder of the McGill Adult Unit for Congenital Heart Disease Excellence. She was the first person to obtain specialty training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at UCLA. She obtained an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. Her research focuses on epidemiology, health services, quality and policy. She is a funded Canadian Research Scholar. Since 2010, she has led or co-led nearly 30 million in publicly funded research. She has trained over 15 students since 2010. She has over 100 publications and 2 reports of invention in HIT. She co-authored Perloff’s Clinical Recognition of Congenital Heart Disease. She is the only Canadian to serve on the Epidemiology and Prevention Council, Statistics Committee of the American Heart Association. She is on the leadership council of the American College of Cardiology where she co-chairs the Quality Metrics Work Group for the adult and pediatric congenital heart disease section. She is on the oversight committee of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in the US National Data Standards Committee for congenital heart disease. She is a member of the Congenital Heart Public Consortium in the US. She is a member of the Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology Electronic Health Records Data Standards Writing Committee of the American College of Cardiology. She was a first recipient of the 2011 Heart Heroes Award from the American Congenital Heart Association. In 2015 she was elected President of the Canadian Adult Congenital Heart Network. In 2018 was the recipient of the Perloff Lectureship award in recognition of her contributions to the field of adult congenital heart disease.
