Dr. Ian Paterson completed his undergraduate medical education and residency training in internal medicine and cardiology at McGill University. He subsequently completed fellowship training in echocardiography and cardiac MRI. He worked at the University of Alberta until 2022, where he co-founded the cardio-oncology program in 2010 and cardiac amyloidosis program in 2019. He relocated to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in 2022 and holds leadership positions in cardiac imaging and rare cardiac conditions. His research interests include image-based characterization of cardiomyopathy and intervention studies to mitigate cardiovascular risk in patients with cancer. He is an active member of the Canadian Society of Echocardiography, Canadian Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and Canadian Cardiac Oncology Network.
