Hugo De Larochellière completed his cardiology residency in 2022 at the Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada. He is currently completing a fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Stanford University, California, USA. Upon completion of his fellowship in the fall of 2024, he will begin his career as a cardiologist-electrophysiologist at the Institut Universitaire de Cardiologie et Pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ), Quebec City, Canada.
Dr. De Larochellière has a strong interest in complex catheter ablation and tachyarrhythmia management. At Stanford University, he is part of a research team using computational modeling and artificial intelligence to improve AF ablation. His dedication to research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications and academic presentations. During his cardiology residency, he led research projects on the impact of severity of LV dysfunction on LV remodeling after atrial flutter ablation in patients with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy and on the safety of exclusive remote ICD monitoring during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this work, he received the Department of Medicine's Research Excellence Award.
In addition to his research, Dr. De Larochellière is active in teaching and has received teaching awards throughout his medical training. His upcoming position at IUCPQ, an academic institution, is in line with this interest. Dr. De Larochellière now serves as the CHRS Member-in-Training Representative and is committed to the vulgarization of EP to improve arrhythmia care for all cardiologists. He also places great emphasis on patient care and providing state-of-the-art and innovative treatment.
