ECLS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

With over 35 years in healthcare, Renee Mintak has dedicated 33 years to neonatal and pediatric cardiac critical care at BC Children’s Hospital. Since 1999, she has been integral to the Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Program, progressing from a bedside ECLS Specialist to Team Leader and now serving as Program Coordinator for a predominantly cardiac ECLS patient population.
Renee’s passion for extracorporeal circuitry, education, and simulation has earned her the Award of Excellence with Distinction in Education at BC Children’s Hospital. She co-led the overhaul of the ECLS program, securing the ELSO Platinum Award of Excellence. Renee is also active in research and quality improvement projects in the cardiac PICU, excelling in patient safety processes and multidisciplinary collaboration. Her commitment extends to provincial and international committees focused on improving ECLS and critical care.
