Kaitlin is a Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She completed her undergraduate and doctoral education at the University of Pennsylvania, the MN-NP Paediatric Primary Care program at the University of Toronto, and worked as a bedside nurse in the Cardiac ICU at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the PICU at the Hospital for Sick Children before taking on her current role. Kaitlin holds a PhD in Nursing Science from Penn, where she studied risk factors for iatrogenic withdrawal from opioids and benzodiazepines in critically ill children, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in basic neuroscience with Dr. Akiva Cohen at CHOP, where she studied mechanisms underlying chronic pain after traumatic brain injury. Currently, in addition to her clinical duties, she holds appointments as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto and Project Investigator at the Research Institute of the Hospital for Sick Children. Kaitlin has been the recipient of a number of research grants and awards for her leadership, innovation and early investigator contributions.
