Nicholas Grubic (he/him) is a Vanier Scholar and a doctoral student in Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. He earned a Master of Science in Epidemiology from Queen's University in 2021, as well as a Bachelor of Honours Science (Life Sciences) and a Certificate in Business from Queen's University in 2019. His research interests include cardiovascular epidemiology, sports medicine, social determinants of health, and child/adolescent health. Nicholas has served as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on various research grants funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Information, Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, and AMS Healthcare. His research has resulted in >40 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, including the British Medical Journal, Canadian Journal of Cardiology, and British Journal of Sports Medicine. Nicholas is an active trainee committee member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and an editorial board member of both the Canadian Journal of Cardiology and Canadian Journal of Cardiology Open. He is also a member of the Heart and Stroke Young Leaders Committee, a philanthropic group of young professionals dedicated to improving heart health and awareness across Canada. Outside of his academic work, Nicholas enjoys cycling and running. He has previously been a varsity rowing/triathlon athlete and was a member of Team Ontario at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
