Dr. Adrienne Kovacs, a clinical and health psychologist, spent 17 years fully integrated within cardiology divisions, first at the University of Toronto and later at Oregon Health & Science University, where she was promoted to Professor in 2020. She is the Past-President of the International Society for Adult Congenital Heart Disease, the first non-physician to lead this organization
Dr. Kovacs is a fierce advocate for the psychological care of individuals living with congenital heart disease. She has given over 150 invited presentations at national and international meetings in a dozen countries and has over 130 peer-reviewed publications. She chaired the 2022 American Heart Association Scientific Statement on Psychological Outcomes and Interventions for Individuals with Congenital Heart Disease.
In late 2021, Dr. Kovacs returned to her hometown of Toronto, Canada, where she launched Equilibria Psychological Health. She is now dually focused on the psychological well-being of adults with heart disease as well as health care professionals and maintains academic commitments in mentorship and research with long-standing collaborators.
