Pediatric Cardiologist

Dr. Mackie is a pediatric cardiologist at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. His clinical work is focused on general cardiology and echocardiography. His research interests include: (i) the transition from pediatric to adult cardiac care, and how to improve that process for adolescents, their parents, and health care providers; (ii) health services research examining resource utilization among children and adults with congenital heart disease; (iii) outcomes research among children and adults with CHD. Dr. Mackie has led clinical trials, observational studies, and systematic reviews. Currently he is funded as Principal Applicant by CIHR for two randomized controlled trials, and is PI of a Heart and Stroke Foundation Congenital Heart Disease Team Grant in Care Transitions.
