Dr. Ainsworth is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University. He is a Clinician-Educator within the Divisions of Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences. Clinical and educational interests include cardiac critical care, general cardiology, critical care medicine, echocardiography and point-of-care ultrasonography. Dr. Ainsworth is currently the Chief of Critical Care at Hamilton Health Sciences. He provides patient care at Hamilton General Hospital in the Cardiac Care Unit, Cardiac Surgery ICU, Critical Care Response Team as well as outpatient clinic. As a Level 3 Echocardiographer, he is also actively involved in the Hamilton Health Sciences Echocardiography Lab. Echocardiography (TTE and TEE) in the ICU is a special interest for Dr. Ainsworth. He has been involved in several recent CCS Guidelines/Position Statements, including: Neuroprognostication in the Post Cardiac Arrest Patient; Acute Management of ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction and; Optimal Care of the Postarrest Patient.
