Workshop Description: It is well recognized that the population of adults with congenital heart disease continues to rise driven by the successes of pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery. What is not so well recognized is the current inability to match this population rise in providers appropriately trained to care for this complex patient group. We know that patients with ACHD have a poorer outcome when cared for by physicians with a lack the adequate knowledge in ACHD (Cordina et al., 2018).
This session will examine the current workforce problem outlining the current challenges and examining potential solutions.
We will explore reasons why there are currently not enough ACHD cardiologists and outline gaps in training that exist amongst general cardiologists. We will then turn our attention to solutions in future recruitment and training initiatives.
The session will consist of two short talks of 10 minutes firstly outlining the problem and secondly the solutions this will be followed by a 25 minute panel and audience discussion to increase the interaction of the session.

Interactive and Engagement Activities Description: There will be a 20 minute panel and audience discussion to allow for maximal interaction.
