Dr. Doson Chua is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Cardiology at St Paul’s Hospital, Providence Health Care, Vancouver BC Canada and has practiced in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for over 20 years. He specializes in acute coronary syndromes, acute heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.He has published in the area of antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy, statin therapy and heart failure therapeutics.
Dr. Chua completed his BSc(Pharm) from the University of British Columbia in 1996, his PharmD from the University of Washington in 2002, Critical Care and Cardiology Advanced Practice Hospital Residency from St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, ON in 2003.
He is currently a Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the University of British Columbia, lecturer in the online bridging PharmD programs at the University of Alberta, Masters of Science in Clinical Pharmacy in the Chinese University of Hong Kong and PharmD Working Professional Program for the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He also lectures in the Faculty of Medicine, Division of Cardiology in the University of British Columbia on cardiology therapeutics to medical students and cardiology fellows.
Dr. Chua holds dual specialty certification with the US Board of Pharmacy Specialties as a Board Certified Pharmacy Specialist (BCPS) and Board Certified Cardiology Pharmacist (BCCP). He is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (FCSHP) and was President of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists BC Branch. He has published and presented pharmacy and cardiology related research locally, provincially and nationally and has won several pharmacy and cardiology related teaching, research and practice awards.
