David Messika-Zeitoun is currently full Professor of Cardiology, at University of Ottawa Heart Institute
His main area of interest is Valvular Heart Disease. After completing his training in Paris, he did a 2 years research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic (2001-2003) where he had the chance to work under the mentorship of Doctor Enriquez-Sarano. Upon returning to the cardiology department of Bichat hospital led by Doctor Alec Vahanian as permanent staff, he developed a successful research program on valvular heart disease. He obtained several National Grants and developed a prospective cohort which aims to improve the epidemiology, pathophysiology and outcome of patients with aortic valve stenosis. He mentored numerous fellows (Masters, MD thesis and PhD students). He is a well-recognized echocardiographer with a specific expertise in exercise echocardiography and interventional echocardiography. He is involved in the development of new percutaneous devices for valve diseases. He was been appointed by the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in January 2018.
