Dr. Garuba is a cardiologist and echocardiographer at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI). She is an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. She is the lead cardiologist in the Cardio-Obstetrics Clinic at TOH. She provides cardiac care in the Women's Heart Health Clinic at UOHI and in the Cardio-Oncology Referral Clinic at TOH. Dr. Garuba graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto and became a licensed pharmacist prior to her entry into medical school. She received her doctorate in medicine from Queen’s University. She completed residency in internal medicine at the University of Ottawa where she served as Chief Medicine Resident. She subsequently underwent adult cardiology fellowship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute followed by a fellowship in echocardiography at UOHI. Dr. Garuba’s areas of interest and clinical practice are in advanced echocardiography, cardio-oncology, cardio-obstetrics, women's heart health, and global health cardiology/cardiac disease management in resource-limited settings.
