My name is Matthew McLarty, and I have lived my whole life with a chronic heart disease. This condition has affected every aspect of my life and to this day is one of the main factors I have to care for when I make any decision in my day to day. From what food I take off the shelf, to how I socialize at a party, the forefront of my mind brings the same question, “How will this affect my heart?”. This way of thinking has been engrained into my brain since birth and with the help of the cardiology community, I have been able to better answer and tackle this everyday question.
With the help of our team, we have been able to bring together many unique resourceless, people, and perspectives to look into the current form of pediatric, adult, and transitional cardiology. With this focus, we have been able to appreciate where the system works and target where they system can improve for the betterment of long-term lifelong cardiac care.
It has been an honour to work with members of the community, and to put back into the system that helped get me to the place I am today. I hope that with our team we will be able to enlighten and take a step forward in the right direction.
