Dr. Parvathy Nair is a cardiologist with a specialty in echocardiography at the Vancouver General Hospital.
Dr. Nair’s research interests are in medical education, publishing in the areas of both curriculum and assessment in echocardiography. She is co-chair and primary author of the 2023 CCS/CSE Physician Training Standards in Echocardiography.
Dr. Nair has served in various education leadership roles including Program Director for the UBC Cardiology training program for 10 years.
She has been on the executive and examination board of the RCPSC Cardiology Exam Committee as well as the RCPSC Cardiology Subspecialty Committee where she is currently a nucleus member. She is Vice-Chair, RCPSC AFC Subcommittee in Adult Echocardiography.
She is currently the UBC Postgraduate Lead for Competency Based Medical Education and the Accreditation Lead for the UBC Undergraduate Medical Program.
She serves as a consultant to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC in the area of cardiology licensure.
Dr. Nair did her MD and Cardiology training at Queen’s University, and echocardiology fellowship at the UHN in the University of Toronto before completing a Certificate in Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
