Doctor Jacques received his medical degree from Université Laval in 2004. During medschool, he acted as a prosector and Junior Lecturer in anatomy. He completed a Masters in Biomedical Sciences degree from Université de Montréal in 2008. His research in neurocardiology was done in Dr Pierre Pagé's laboratory at Hôpital-du-Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. He completed his Cardiac Surgery residency in 2010 for which he was put on the deans' list for postmedical education. He received the Daniel Tassé prize for the trainee with the best clinical and teaching competencies. Doctor Jacques then accomplished two years of clinical fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (University of Toronto) and one year at Boston Children's Hospital (Harvard University). He was chief clinical fellow at both institutions. He became cardiovascular staff surgeon at the Institut de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec for both adult and adult congenital cardiac surgery, as well as at the Centre Mère-Enfant Soleil of the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec for pediatric cardiac surgery. In addition to his congenital practice, he has a great interest for surgical management of arrhythmias. From 2014, he is Senior Lecturer in Anatomy at Université Laval. Since 2015, he his Assistant Professor of Surgery. He became director of the Cardiac Surgery residency program of Université Laval in 2017. He was named Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel for the 55th Field Ambulance in Quebec City in 2018. He was appointed Associate Editor of BMC Cardiovascular Disorders in 2019.
